Network of Living Campuses

This IoT use case is being developed in collaboration with Technical University of Madrid (UPM). We are testing general purpose sensors that have been deployed at both UNB and UPM campuses. The data will be used as an input to a SVM/Adaboosting model to predict occupancy behavior that can lead to significant impacts on energy use, GHG emissions, student health, and productivity. Buildings are a critical component of Canada’s infrastructure and economy, they use 40% of Canada’s energy, and generate 33% of secondary GHG emissions through construction and operations.
